Telling mum she might have incontinence
My mother is a very independent women. At 90 she lives alone with only a little bit of help with cleaning. She does all her own shopping and cooking.
So, it was very difficult to tell her that she might need an incontinence pad. I could smell a faint wee smell and I was concerned others could smell it too.
She was a little embarrassed when I first brought it up and said sometimes she can’t get to the toilet on time. She was glad when i told her it was no big deal – she just needs to get the right underwear. We also mentioned it to the doctor next time we saw him. He suggested doing a few pelvic floor exercises.
